All jewelry has been treated with specialty UV-resistant sealant and/or metal wax in order to preserve the finish, and to prevent tarnishing and scratching. However, no lacquer is completely impervious to damage, and all pieces should be treated with care. Elements in the air and natural oils in your skin can eventually erode protection over time. Avoid swimming/bathing, lotions and perfumes while wearing items that touch your skin directly.
If bare metal jewelry begins to tarnish, you may need to remove the protective finish with lacquer thinner/acetone, after which you can clean it with anti-tarnish cloths or liquid, and reapply a spray lacquer. Keeping your jewelry in pouches or ziplock bags will help to prevent tarnishing over time.
Make sure to avoid using any abrasives or harsh cleaning products on pieces with a patinated finish, as the colors cannot be repaired without a complete removal and reapplication of the patina. If your jewelry is damaged, please contact me for advice or to request a repair quote. -
Bowls and Chandeliers have been treated with specialty lacquer and a hardening wax to protect their finish. Unless specified, these pieces are not meant for outdoor use. To extend the life of the finish, do not use bowls with very hot foods, and clean only using room temperature water and mild soap- do not use heavy abrasives. Natural elements in the air, food, and your skin will, over time, eat away at protective finishes. Regularly wiping down your bowls or lamp domes with a wet microfiber cloth is a good maintenance practice.
If the Patina becomes damaged, you can contact me for a refinishing quote. We can discuss details/cost if you provide me with images and information about the extent of the damage.
